Shadow’s Claim features Prince Trehan, a ruthless master assassin who will do anything to possess Bettina, his beautiful sorceress mate, even compete for her hand in a blood-sport tournament— to the death.

HE WON’T BE DENIED - Trehan Daciano, known as the Prince of Shadows, has spent his life serving his people—striking in the night, quietly executing any threat to their realm. The coldly disciplined swordsman has never desired anything for himself—until he beholds Bettina, the sheltered ward of two of the Lore’s most fearsome villains.

SHE’S BOUND TO ANOTHER - Desperate to earn her guardians’ approval after a life-shattering mistake, young Bettina has no choice but to marry whichever suitor prevails—even though she’s lost her heart to another. Yet one lethal competitor, a mysterious cloaked swordsman, invades her dreams, tempting her with forbidden pleasure.

A BATTLE FOR HER BODY AND SOUL - Even if Trehan can survive the punishing contests to claim her as his wife, the true battle for Bettina’s heart is yet to come. And unleashing a millennium’s worth of savage need will either frighten his Bride away—or stoke Bettina’s own desires to a fever pitch. . . .

REVIEW: I am a huge fan of Kresley Cole, and I’ll admit to have fallen behind and missed out reading this awesome story sooner. The Dacians were first introduced in Lothaire’s book and it  right away caught my attention and spiked my curiosity. While I am admit to be fan of Lothaire I am also proud to admit to have fallen in-love with Trehan.

The Dacians live behind the mist, unknown to many and a curiosity to most but always unseen to the lore. Trehan Daciano is another prince, one that lives behind the mist; he is the door keeper of the palace and as the door keeper his responsibility is to make sure nobody ever leave, at least not alive. While Trehan is on the hunt, looking for a demon who escape the palace even when knowing that was punishable by death he started to have this weird feeling and nagging sensation that he was missing or forgetting something. As the best assassin of Dacian and foremost a prince to the throne Trehan knows that he has no time or inclination to finding his mate. His concern isn’t love or a woman, his priority is staying alive and keeping his world safe and secret.

I have always loved Cole’s ability and imagination, her world building is remarkable. The world of the Lore, the characters the conflicts and the plot are addictive and very entertaining. The world of the Dacians is complex and compelling, different and enigmatic. Trehan has always known duty, but the night he met Bettina his world changed and his heart started beating.  All he needed was a few words from her for his soul, heart and body crave for her. This story has it all, fights, magic, vampires, shifters and everything lore. The dialog was funny and sweet, romantic and sexy. The fights are almost vivid and the competitions transported me to a world that only Kresley Cole can create, where the reader and the character become one and every blow and kiss can almost be felt. The tumultuous and passionate relationship that starts by just a few words “You know you can do anything to me,” opens a can of worms when Trehan finds out the beautiful words spoken by his Bettina were not intended for him.

Their relationship takes a beating, his worth must be proven, and her trust and love must be earned. The story hints to what I hope is the next book.  Kresley Cole is a leader in the paranormal romance genre and one that has proven to be capable of writing great stories. I am looking forward to what’s next in the Immortal After Dark Series The Dacians!
