REVIEW: Ripped is Tonia Joyce latest book. I have come to appreciate the way in which Tonia Joyce writes and tells her stories. They are usually filled with emotions & real life complications.
Ripped is the love story of Kyle & Gemma, two of the three members of Everhide. Their story while not unique it is sweet, tender and very sexy. Gemma is in love with one of her bandmates, Hunter. While she is very aware of Hunter sexual escapes she can’t deny the attraction she feels for him. But while she knows any type of relationship with him can only mean trouble and heartbreak, she can’t keep denying her attraction and feelings.
Ripped brings to the table the complications of falling in love with your best friend(s). It explores the complications of finding yourself while love unravels all around you. I enjoyed this story because it shows us the vulnerable side of friendship and love. Gemma knows that she has been dreaming and craving Hunter for a long time, but she also recognizes the danger of her feelings. Not just because it can mean heartbreak but because it can endanger their friendship and test their loyalty.
Tania Joyce did a fantastic job exploring the dynamics of being famous, she slowly puts these characters to the test by bringing out their personal issues as well as their vulnerabilities and fears. She manages to give us a love story that tests boundaries and pushes the limits of these characters, either by testing their emotions or by testing their desires for more.
Kyle & Gemma slowly go through the ups and downs of their friendship, their test is more than just being able to overcome jealousy, fear & need. They fight for more than just themselves, they fight to maintain a healthy friendship with Hunter, they fight to keep their love hidden from the public and camaras, but they also fight to keep their heart focus on more than each other. Kyle and Gemma love for music is as strong as they love and need for each other.
Ripped is a great love story that explores loyalties, friendship, trust, and sex. The dialog is fun and the complications feel very real. I think Tania Joyce proved once again she is a top player in the genre and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. She gave us a beautiful set of characters that not only bring talent to the table but also emotion, sensuality, and love.
