A KING WHO WALKS IN DARKNESS

The Rhys who has existed for centuries is gone. Stripped of his ability to shift forms, Rhys can no longer embody the majestic, powerful dragon he was at birth. Cut off from his heritage by one of his own, this Dragon King must remain a man, haunted by demons who torment his every waking moment. The darkness would swallow him whole . . . except a woman so beautiful and haunted becomes the one beam of light in his world...

A DESIRE THAT WILL NOT BE DENIED

Lily Ross is taking the first step in building a new life for herself. Still reeling from a relationship that nearly broke her spirit, Lily is wary of her attraction to brawny, brooding Rhys. The passion burning so brightly between them is a potent temptation, but any entanglement is destined to end in disaster. Yet when a spectre from Lily’s past threatens their growing bond, Rhys is forced to choose with his heart, or lose this woman who has become his one chance at salvation

REVIEW: It is a bit strange for me to read a series out of order, but do not blame me entirely. When I saw Night’s Blaze for grabs in NetGalley I jumped to the chance because I saw it was a serial and not as part of an already quite established series. Well, let me tell you, the author did a great job with this book. I found myself absorbed and enthralled by the plot and unique set of events. I enjoyed the characters and I will certainly go back and read the other books in the series. Night’s Blaze is passionate, heart wrenching and sexy.  Though this is a series, the book can also read as a standalone, yes there are mentions of other characters and events but that doesn’t take away the standalone feel of the story.

The plot was entertaining, dragons living among humans for millennia and trying to maintain the balance that is on the brink of being broken and in terms bringing the dragon race to full exposure which may end up causing a war between the species (humans/Fae/dragons). These characters are complex, unique and well developed. I found them refreshing and entertaining. Rhys & Lily’s story is romantic, sexy and hot. Their interaction flows easily, I enjoyed how easily it was for Rhys and Lily to accept their feelings without adding unnecessary drama. The plot gave the story the necessary balance and added a spark of uncertainty and drama that was needed without pushing back the love story. These two characters have a lot of passion, they trust on each other to heal their wounds and rely on their love to fight for their ever after. I enjoyed Rhys and Lily a lot because unlike many other characters in paranormal, they do not deny their attraction or simply fight their feelings. On the contrary, they both embrace what they were certain would bring happiness.

The world of the Dragons is an unique and well developed theme that will put a lot other paranormal romance to shame. It has great European feel, giving us an escapade to glorious cities and settings. Donna Grant writes beautiful love stories and entertaining characters, if you are looking for a story that brings passion, sexy steamy romance and intelligent characters, Night’s Blaze is for you.
