She's just met the man of her dreams...but he's not who he said he was. Neither is she. Until they get a second chance to make a first impression.
Is he a sophisticated big-city lawyer, or an easygoing small-town woodworker? And if she's not a career-driven high-powered attorney, then who is she? Can Buck and Nichelle find trust enough to discard their masks and discover just how alike—and in love—they really are?
He's only got one rule: no lawyers. She's a lawyer.
Burned by experience, Buck's got a rule for a reason. After walking away from a lucrative legal position, he found his peace in Beckley. Life on the farm is simple, and his woodworking business is thriving. He's not interested in trading his work boots for wingtips and rejoining the rat race. He’s ready to settle down, and she’s the most compelling woman he’s ever met. Even if she is a lawyer.
Nichelle is an intelligent and independent woman who struggles with family responsibilities as well as guilt. Her story is relatable and charming. Nichelle is strong, she doesn’t settle just for anything, she studies, analyses and determines what’s best for her and excel at her job. However, when it comes to personal matters, there is a whole lot of things Nichelle is struggling with. Her past pushes thoughts of self-doubt, and in terms, her view of love and commitment is tarnished by what she has experienced in her own family.
Buck is charming, educated and wants nothing to do with lawyers. As a former lawyer himself, he has swore off anything that has to do with lawers, pushing himself to dedicate his life to his work and true passion. That’s until he meets Nichelle. What starts as a awkward & somewhat uncomfortable encounter turned into a sweet and heated attraction that neither Buck or Nichelle was capable of dismissing.
This was such a great story, Knowing Nichelle brought to the table all sort of feels. These two characters have strong will, responsibilities and both suffer from the loss of a loved one. They are pushed to their limits but neither losses the focus on what’s in front of them, of what it may mean to their happiness.
Knowing Nichelle is well written, it is charming, sexy and flat out a wonderful love story. The author does a great job acknowledging societal stigma around interracial relationship and how this may or may not affect the people involved. She also did a great job bringing Nichelle’s insecurities to the table without taking away the essence of her character. She maintains the character’s strength throughout the story. I adored Buck, his character was both charming and sexy, he was perfect for Nichelle.
I can’t recommend this story enough, this story is emotional, sexy, charming and flat out a great read. Do not hesitate to pick it up.
