Description: For Tracey Rooks, life with her grandparents on a Wyoming farm has always been simple. But after her grandmother’s death, Tracey is all her grandfather has. So when Eagle Elite University announces its annual scholarship lottery, Tracey jumps at the opportunity to secure their future and enters. She isn’t expecting much-but then she wins. And life as she knows it will never be same.  The students at Eagle Elite are unlike any she’s ever met . . . and they refuse to make things easy for her. There’s Nixon, gorgeous, irresistible, and leader of a group that everyone fears: The Elect. Their rules are simple. 1. Do not touch The Elect. 2. Do not look at The Elect. 3. Do not speak to The Elect. No matter how hard she tries to stay away, The Elect are always around her and it isn’t long until she finds out the reason why they keep their friends close and their enemies even closer. She just didn’t realize she was the enemy — until it was too late.

REVIEW: Mean Girls meet Gossip Girl (boys version) – Elite is an awesome, and deliciously written NA series that will leave you licking your fingers. Elite is one of those books you read without expectations and end up being blown away by the smart and quite different plot.

The plot in this story is quite different and perhaps one of the smartest reads in NA that has been released lately. The plot revolves around the Eagle Elite University and its student body. Eagle Elite is one of those ivy league schools that not everyone gets into. When Tracey gets accepted she knows that she will have a lot more to deal with than just her grades. She isn’t part of The Elite, her family doesn’t come from money, her parents don’t own big enterprises or corporations and certainly they aren’t politicians or famous. Having lost her parents when she was just a child, she lives with her grandfather who is very protective and who has have a good share of secrets.

Tracey’s welcome to the school is orchestrated by The Elect, a group of guys who do not hold back when wanting to make someone’s life miserable. The Elect has rules and they most be followed and obeyed or you will pay. I totally love how this story flowed and how the characters slowly developed. I think the author did a great job introducing us to each of the important players in the story while keeping the excitement and suspense. While it wasn’t necessarily obvious I knew that there was more to Tracey than we were lead to believe. She is smart, mouthy and isn’t afraid to call things like she sees them, perhaps that’s exactly why I liked her character so much. Nixon on the other hand left me to believe he was a total jerk.

Nixon is one of those male characters that regardless of how arrogant, egotistical and rude he is, one can’t help but feel attracted to his attitude and sexy looks. Think of Nixon as the Gretchen Wieners of Mean Girls – he makes everyone’s business, his business. He knows everyone and everything. Now, Chase, he is a tough guy who follows the rules, and he also impose them, but do not let that tough guy attitude fool you, he is a sweetheart with a great heart. Ah I could go on about these characters but keep in mind those two because they will steal your heart one way or another. I think this series is going to be great, the plot, the surprises, the characters and the drama is exactly what readers will enjoy. I for once can’t wait to get my hands on book 2 because I am dying to see what happens next. The romance was building, the betrayal almost imminent and the heart breaks almost necessary. I am excited about what’s to come next on this series.

If you haven’t read anything by Rachel Van Dyken you may want to start with this book, it has all the ingredients to make the Eagle Elite series a spicy, entertaining and juicy one. Think of Mafia, secrets, money and TONS OF POWER!
