Picture this - I’m ready to win back the love of my life, and I’m going big this time. We’re talking boom box, sing her name in the rain, let the whole damn neighborhood know I'm good and ready this time around. After all, if you're going to grand gesture the ever-loving hell out of a second chance, you need to pull out all the stops.

There’s only one little problem.

My college girlfriend isn't the one who shows up when I play my "I'll do anything to win you back" tune.

The woman who flings open the second-floor window tells me my ex doesn’t live here anymore. But she'll help me win her back. Anything for romance, anything for a guy so willing to go big for love. And that's what I want at first. Until I get to know my new “romance coach” and discover she’s funny, clever, and keeps me on my toes. And boy, do I ever need that.

Now I don't want to win anyone else’s heart. I want the woman who's been helping me all along.

Trouble is - she thinks I'm in love with someone else, and when we take off on a road trip, everything I think I know about women is about to be unzipped and turned inside out.

REVIEW: Another fantastic love story by Lauren Blakely. He is the hot nerd, the guy who has one of the coolest jobs in the world, designing roller coasters. She is a successful comedy writer who found laughter to be the solution to her problems.

Kyler (aka Tom) got his heart broken in college, the girl of his dreams left him and her reason for the breakup? Tom was a slacker.  So from that day on, Tom worked towards making changes in his life. Changes that would guarantee him another chance at love,  and he would beg if necessary. The thing is, Tom had no idea how to go about it. So he did what he thought would make the greatest impact. He grabbed a boombox and went all in.

What follows next is the funniest and sweetest story I have read in a while. Finley and Tom meet under weird & unflattering circumstances. But instead of getting discouraged Tom embarks in an adventure with Finley, a total stranger. But as these two very different people test the dynamics of dating, Tom soon realizes that his previously designed plan was full of loopholes, bad planning, and terrible execution.

Finley & Tom are funny, flawed but yet perfectly matched. The author did a fantastic job exploring the relationship dynamics, from strangers to friends, from friends to love interest, from love interest to lovers. What starts as a crazy proposition develops into a step by step course of how to fall in love. The story explores the what ifs, the ways in which emotions and feelings can irrevocably change from curiosity, to wonder, and finally reality.

The story is wonderfully crafted, the pop culture references are a treat. The flirting, the silly sexual innuendoes and sexy undertone are the perfect examples of how modern dating works and it reflects the way in which their relationship grows, very easy and fun. The process of falling in love was beautifully explored, the emotions and the uncertainty of something new was well balanced, and it didn’t feel overdone. What didn’t work in the story however is Tom’s ignorance and at times clueless attitude when it comes to relationships and the consequences of his inaction.

Overall, Unzipped is sweet, sexy as hell and wonderfully funny. The banter, the flirting, the slow burn is exactly what I need to start the new year. If you are looking for a love story that delivers romance, slow burn, grade A comedy, and cheesy lines then Unzipped is for you.
