Jane isn't entirely sure that Cinderella got such a raw deal. Sure, she had a rough start, but didn't she eventually land a prince and a happily-ever-after? Meanwhile, Jane is busy waiting on her demanding, entitled sisters, running her cleaning business, and . . . yep, not a prince in sight. Until a party and a broken shoe incident leave Jane wondering if princes---or at least, a certain deliciously hunky billionaire---maybe do exist.
Except Brock Wellington isn't anyone's dream guy. Hell, a prince would never agree to be auctioned off in marriage to the highest bidder. Or act like an arrogant jerk---even if it was just a façade. Now, as Brock is waiting for the auction chopping block, he figures it's karmic retribution that he's tempted by a sexy, sassy woman he can't have. But while they can't have a fairy-tale ending, maybe they can indulge in a little bit of fantasy
REVIEW: I have to start with saying that I loved this story. As a child I was a big fan of Cinderella and when I read The Bachelor Auction description I knew I was going to love it.
The Bachelor Auction is the modern version of Cinderella, but with more realistic & sensual twist to it. The story revolves around Jane. A young woman who seems to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders. After her father died she felt compelled to follow her father’s wish to keep the family together at all cost. But while Jane gave herself away to making sure her and her sister stuck together, she was also wasting away and giving herself to her father’s last wish. Jane is beautiful, intelligent and responsible, working and keeping her sister fed has been her priority.
The story goes into the ins and out of Jane’s life, working on her business and trying to stay afloat while her sisters have all the fun. All changes when Jane meets Brock, the man who seems to own the world, he looks so sure about himself, he is sexy & attentive. But just as Jane he seems to carry the world on his back.
These two characters have more in common than they could ever though, and while they both suffer different circumstances they are both subject to a guilt that does not let off. Brock is everything I like to see in a male character, he brings the needed balance in a story that seems to move from one heroine sacrifice to another.
I enjoyed how these two characters weren’t afraid to experience life, and while reluctant to getting hurt they seem open to enjoying themselves.
This story has the perfect balance between romance, swoon and angst. The author did a great job reviving a classic love story that is a lot more relatable in today’s standards. It allows the reader to experience these characters feelings while making us aware of where we too stand in life. I recommend reading The Bachelor Auction because it has everything a great story has, from sexy encounters, sexual tension to passion love and understanding.
Do I recommend this book? YES YES YES
