Mona Lisa St. James made a deathbed promise that she would do anything to save her mother's art gallery. Unfortunately, not only is The Red painted red, but it's in the red. She soon realizes she has no choice but to sell it.
Just as she realizes she has no choice but to sell it, a mysterious man comes in after closing time and makes her an offer: He will save The Red if she agrees to submit to him for the period of one year.
The man is handsome, English, and terribly tempting...but surely her mother didn't mean for Mona to sell herself to a stranger. Then again, she did promise to do anything to save The Red...
The Red is a standalone novel of erotic fantasy from Tiffany Reisz, international bestselling author of The Bourbon Thief and the Original Sinners series
It isn’t often one come across a story in which time seem endless and scenes depicts work of art. The Red takes us into the world of art, pleasure and the forbidden. Reisz manages to write a story that transcend reality and the ordinary. The Red shouldn’t be new to us, it was first mentioned by Nora Sutherlin in the Original Sinners series.
We first meet Mona while she is at The Red Gallery contemplating how it can all go down if she doesn’t find a way to keep The Red afloat. The Red Gallery is bankrupt and Mona thinks that only a miracle will be able to keep it alive. But as Mona think of how she can manage to keep the gallery open, a strangers pays her a visit. As these two characters meet, and strange things start to happen, Mona can’t help but feel enthralled and curious about the beautiful stranger who has come to the rescue.
In a beautiful prose, Reisz manages to give us an intriguing, mysterious & erotic romance that seems suspended in a dreamlike reality. Reisz crafted this story in a way that these scenes transport us from the present to a past that depicts a story that has been long gone, but that it is still fresh in the eye and the mind of a man who hasn’t been able to forget. The Red, beautifully explores the sex-capades of a woman with a lot to lose but even more to gain, while it also gives us glimpses into the world of a man long gone but whose destiny is to meet again his Mona, his whore and the woman who he once loved. The way the scenes are crafted give readers a front row seat into the world of delicious and deviant pleasure. It transport the reader into a world where art and passion are the only answers to salvation not just for Mona but also for Malcolm. I enjoyed The Red so much that I will likely read it again. Mona and Malcolm are everything I expected to find in this story. Not only are we transported into a world of art and its meaning, but also into the world of a man whose love for his whore transcend reality.
Tiffany Reisz is on top of her game, The Red managed to convey all the feelings, emotions and sexual eroticism one has come to expect from Reisz writing, at times overwhelmingly deviant and most times astoundingly erotic, one can’t help but savor every word and every page. Readers can expect to understand and even perceive art in a whole different way, Reisz capture art in its raw nature by portrait the sensuality and evocative emotions it convey.
The Red is the epitome of sensuality, eroticism and unforgettable pleasures.
