Pleasure has a price . . .
Just when everything in my life is falling apart, I find a chance to turn it around--to step into someone else's glittering world, if only for a little while. I become someone new, no longer the woman defined by an ugly past, but a woman freer and bolder than myself. A woman who isn't afraid to explore every passion, even at its darkest, with a mysterious and seductive man who believes my mask is real.
Handsome and commanding, enigmatic and irresistible, billionaire Dominic Baine is an obsession I cannot afford and should not risk. He ushers me into consuming new pleasures and addicting new desires, until the line between my real life and the fantasy one I've stolen with him begins to blur.
I know I cannot keep my truth from him. I know my past will not stay buried forever. But before I can make it right, everything comes crashing down. I have deceived this powerful, dangerous man . . . and now there is a price to be paid.
REVIEW: For 100 Days is exactly what I expected, it is intriguing, interesting, sexy & seductive. Lara Adrian breaks the mold when it comes to writing. She craft stories that are deep while at the same time sensitive and erotic. For 100 Days brings to the table the story of two very different characters.
Dominic (Nick), is a man of power and influence, a self made millionaire with a painful past. A lover of art and women, a man who handles his business with a stern and firm grip and intensity. Avery is a struggling artist who doesn’t seem to catch a break, she works as a waitress/bartender at a restaurant and while that isn’t her dream job it helps to pay the bills which only seem to be piling up.
Avery is a painter, one that doesn’t seem to get ahead in the game. She had some of her paintings on display in a gallery until she was told her paintings didn’t cut it and needed to be removed. For Avery that’s just the beginning of her troubles, she is about to be evicted, she doesn’t make enough money to pay rent and if things keep spiraling down she will be forced to leave New York and move back to Philadelphia where her past threatens to consume her.
Avery story is complicated but not unusual, she is a young woman who keeps hidden a dark past, a past that seems to lurk in every corner and that threatens to come back. It isn’t until she meets Nick that things change, Nick is passionate, a stranger who makes her feel things she never thought possible. Nick & Avery’s relationship starts quick, there is no introduction, there is no filter, there is just lust and passion.
For 100 Days explores the reality of a woman who isn’t ready to open her heart to a man she hardly knows but for whom she feels a strong lust and a deep passion. It also exploit these characters past, their decisions and their emotions. Since the story is told from Avery’s point of view, we get a first row glimpse into her emotions and indecision, her troubles, her failures and her inability to trust. This story also explores friendship and the characters reality to deal with everyday issues such as violence, abuse and imprisonment.
While the story narrative isn’t what we are used to get from Lara Adrian, the story does move a a fast pace. These characters fall for each other and they fall hard, their connection though seem to be mostly based on sex it slowly transforms into a connection of need, desires, feelings and trust. Readers of E.L James, Sylvia Day, Kresley Cole, J. Kenner & others will feel at home with this story.
