Description: Madison Waters knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life. She was already working for one of the most prestigious law firms in Boston as a research assistant, and in a few short months, she would finally graduate from Harvard and collect her law degree. Everything Madison had worked so hard for, was well within her reach.
But when Madison has to take an unexpected trip back home, she’s blindsided by the one thing she’d never planned on. Desperate to escape his wicked past, Holden Brooks moved to Madison’s hometown five years ago. It was a struggle at first, but he eventually overcame the demons that nearly destroyed him back in Texas. Holden is in a good place in his life and love is the very last thing on his mind. Everything changes the moment their two paths collide and they soon find out, fate has a plan of its own. You never know when love will come along and change…everything.
REVIEW: When the opportunity of reviewing Because You’re Mine became available I jumped to the chance. I was eager to get my hands on it, the blurb opened my eyes to a story I wasn’t able to put away, not even for bathroom breaks.
This story is one many may be able to relate to, a young career oriented woman trying to find her way in the world of men, trial cases, clients, and questionable relationships with the boss. The plot is well throughout and engaging, the characters felt like everyday people, the friends you may know and the life you may have lived or experienced. I think the author did a great job bringing together these two characters even when their meeting wasn’t under normal or desirable circumstances.
Holden is the ever sexy, caring, boy next door. Or should I say cowboy next door. He had a troubled past, a past he finds everyday more difficult to escape from and a past he wishes had never happened. Holden wasn’t looking for love or complications, he wanted just to work and keep himself out of trouble, however the moment his boss fell ill and his daughter showed up he knew his trouble had just began.
Madison is on her way to becoming an attorney, her career is on the path to great things, love isn’t something she cares for or is looking for at the moment. She enjoys sex with her boss, it is simple and uncomplicated. Though she knows this can only means trouble, it is an escapade, sex without strings attached. That’s until he kisses her breaking all the rules. Though she doesn’t know how to react, her way out comes when news of her father falling ill forces her to leave her boss, her job and school behind bringing her closer to her family and love.
I enjoyed Because You’re Mine very much, it is one of those stories you read and stay with it for a while. Giving you glimpses into your own life, making you pause and wonder the what if of the past. I loved Holden, he is sweet, caring and extremely sexy. Madison is one of those heroines I wish to see in every other book I read. She is strong, independent, ambitious and loving. I think K. Langston did a phenomenal job writing a story that open our hearts to the possibilities of finding love when it is least expected and finding it with an unlikely hero. If you enjoy stories of redemption, angst, love, hot sexual encounters then you are in for a treat. Add Because You’re Mine to your reading shelf, you will not regret it.
For the next four hours I was focused and alert. The crowd was getting thick but it was nothing I couldn’t handle. I tried not to think about her, only to wonder why I wasn’t thinking about her, and then in turn leading me to think about her. It was a pleasant mind fuck to say the least. The woman was literally making me crazy. Getting sucked into my own head, I never had a chance to prepare myself for what happened next.
Maddie walked into Archer’s.
I take that back.
Maddie floated into Archer’s. It felt like the air had been sucked out of the whole goddamn bar and my knees wobbled due to the lack of oxygen traveling to my brain.
She walked towards the bar slowly with ease and grace, looking perfectly confident and impossibly fucking beautiful. It was difficult to pull my eyes away from her. My hands itched to know if her legs were as soft as the cotton dress she wore. The one that swished across her creamy thigh with every step she took.
Sweet fucking hell…it swished.
Madison Waters could very well be described as every country boy’s dream. Well, this country boy anyway. Every swinging dick in her path had their eyes on her. My pulse quickened and my teeth felt like they could crush granite as jealousy washed over me. If one of them even thought about touching her, I’d lose my fucking shit. The overwhelming need to prevent that from happening had my feet moving in her direction.
Hoisting her sweet ass up onto the empty bar stool, she crossed her delicate arms in front of her. Merging with a shadow on a nearby wall, I stood back and observed as she rifled through her small purse. Then she studied her phone, oblivious to the predators lurking nearby. As I knew it would, it didn’t take long before the first wolf descended.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: I’ve worked in property management for the last decade. Married to my soul mate and gentle giant for 12 years, the man has never been, nor will he ever be, the romantic type. However, we still have a very passionate marriage and we love each other fiercely. We have two beautiful children who drive us absolutely insane, but we love them dearly and we are certain our life would suck without them.
I love music. I have a broad range of taste so I listen to all genres, but I love country the most. Most of my friends and family will tell you that I’m a bit loud. I take that back…I’m very LOUD. I tend to always say what others are thinking and I never sugarcoat anything.
Writing has given me the release I’ve been craving all of these years. An outlet to express myself the way I want to, the way I need to. It’s like therapy for me and my life was forever changed the moment I typed that first line. Links: Goodreads | Facebook | Pinterest | Twitter
