A vampire aristocrat, Peyton is well aware of his duty to his bloodline: mate with an appropriate female of his class and carry on his family’s traditions. And he thought he’d found his perfect match—until she fell in love with someone else. Yet when his split-second decision in a battle with the enemy endangers the life of another trainee, Peyton has to face the idea that his future, and his heart, actually lie with another.

Novo, as a female in the Black Dagger Brotherhood’s training program, feels like she has to prove herself to everybody—and she has no interest in being distracted by falling in love. But when Peyton proves to be so much more than a rich playboy, she is forced to confront the tragedy that has broken her soul and closed her off from love.

As the two grapple with Novo’s past and Peyton’s present, another couple must contend with a connection that is unparalleled—and potentially scandalous. Saxton, who has had his heart broken, discovers in himself a deep-seated attraction to Ruhn, a new member of the household. But will the other male explore the connection? Or will he close his mind and his heart to what could be true love . . . and cost Saxton everything?

REVIEW: Yet another fantastic installment in the Black Dagger Legacy series. J. R Ward has yet again proven to be on top of her game. Blood Fury brings back the action, and the fun only these characters can provide.

In Blood Fury two of my favorite characters in the Black Dagger Legacy are brought back and their story is awesome. As a big fan of Ward, I always expect her stories to bring a lot to the table, she is yet to disappoint me.  We have come to know a lot about Peyton, yet it is never enough. As an aristocrat who found himself fighting for the survival of his race, he never really gave much thought about anything. That all changed when they were attacked by the Lesser Society and many of his friends and family were killed.

Now as part of the new group of trainees, Peyton has to think about more than just himself, his actions could put the life of others in danger, and it has proven to be a fact. So when his distractions almost cause the death of his friend Novo things start to unravel before his eyes. As his relationship with Novo flips between sexual attraction, partnership and friendship we see these characters under a whole new light. I love how the story between these two characters played out, we have come to see them develop slowly, they have proven each and every time they can be dependable. I enjoy Novo’s story, and her story resonates more than I thought it would. I enjoyed Peyton’s character more than other characters in the series. His story was intense and well developed.  Ward did a great job exploring these characters emotions, concerns and distractions without taking away the essence of their characters or without making them look weak.

I was fascinating how Ward manages to flip between points of views without losing the flow and pace. Each story held its importance and value in the large scheme of things. Their stories entwined seamlessly all the while making the story exciting & engrossing.

The story of Saxton & Ruhn was dramatic and fascinating. Both characters have survived heart break, each had a painful story but nothing that a lot of love, sacrifice and trust couldn’t change. Their story was perfect and exactly what  each of them deserved.

If you are looking for an awesome read, look no further. Blood & Fury is the best story in the Black Dagger Legacy thus far. I hope the quality of future stories is maintained. Ward is on top of her game. You can read my review of  Blood Kiss & Blood Vow and see why I think Blood Fury is the best in the series.
