The terrifying king of hell...

As a boy, Abyssian “Sian” Infernas had his heart shattered by a treacherous fey beauty who died before he could exact vengeance. Millennia later, a curse has transformed him into a demonic monster—just as she’s been reincarnated. Sian captures the delicate but bold female, forcing her back to hell.

Meets his match.

Princess Calliope “Lila” Barbot’s people have hated and feared Abyssian and his alliance of monsters for aeons. When the beastly demon imprisons her in his mystical castle, vowing revenge for betrayals she can’t remember, Lila makes her own vow: to bring down the wicked beast for good.

Can two adversaries share one happily-ever-after?

As Calliope turns hell inside out, the all-powerful Sian finds himself defenseless against his feelings for her. In turn, Lila reluctantly responds to the beast’s cleverness and gruff vulnerability. But when truths from a far distant past are revealed, can their tenuous bond withstand ages of deceit, a curse, and a looming supernatural war?

Review: Another fantastic installment in the IAD series by Kresley Cole. In this installment, we meet two fantastic characters Abyssian “Sian” Infernas & Princess Calliope “Lila.”

Wicked Abyss is as wicked as one can imagine, Cole did a superb job paring these characters. As in every book of the AID we have a new set of rules, a new set of characters and a whole new set of mischief that seems as endless as the lives of these characters. I enjoyed this story thoroughly. Sian is the king of Pandemonia, a hell dimension that is as unpredictable as its king.  As part of the Morior, Sian exudes power. His reputation precedes him, but while he is known by the battles he has won, he is also caring & very loyal.

Sian & Lila have a history, a history that is based on pain and loss. As a young demon, Sian’s eyes fell over Kira who reincarnated as Lila, an elve who was as witty as she was beautiful. But Kira wasn’t as enthralled with Sian as he was with her.  Kira took advantage of Sian’s love an attraction for her and use the information she got from him against him and his kind. She was manipulative and conniving, merciless and cold.

Now after millennia, Sian finds himself looking for Kira’s reincarnation, a mismatched eyed elve who he he plans to make pay for all the suffering she caused him. He has waited very long for revenge and while he has thought of the ways in which he can make her pay for all she did to him (in her past life) Sian isn’t prepared to the sight of his mate when he first meets her.

I am enamored with this story, it has become a difficult task to choose one character, or one story from all of Cole’s book because as the series keeps developing and moving forward the stories keep getting better. What I enjoyed the most about this story is not just the romance and steamy scenes, it is also the twists and realizations that came with their story. I enjoyed how Cole managed to give us yet again a passionate story without taking away the ruthlessness of its characters.

Lila is passionate, beautiful & witty. As an exiled fey, Lila’s life is a risk at every turn but once she meets Sian she understand that there is more to the demon than his ruthless and powerful personality. The beauty about Lila’s character is that she can be easily liked, without much effort her character finds its way into ones heart. Her smart mouth and pleasant yet kind hearted personality sneaks up onto the reader and no sooner one finds rooting for her non-stop. While Sian is all mighty and powerful one can’t deny that his grumpy, and no non-sense personatlity is exactly what we would’ve expect to see Lila paired with. They are romantic, sexy, sensual and flat out melting hot together. Their banter and interaction gives the reader the most needed balance in a story that has a lot of angst.

One can’t read an AID book without finding more about Nix’s part in this crazy world. While Cole doesn’t give us a lot of into Nix’s reasons for doing what she does, we find ourselves wondering what connection exist between Nix and many of the things that happen in the Lore and her connection to Orion.

Again, Cole managed to give us a sensual, sexy and romantic love story between two very different characters. Cole writes stories with a lot of passion, she explores these characters insecurities and emotions to a breaking point. While their differences was the cause for many of their problems, it was the differences between them that brought them together. Overall, Wicked Abyss is fantastic, one fans will not want to miss. There is plenty of swoon, sexy times and open heart declarations, Cole has yet again showed she is on top of the game, not only does she own this genre but she slay it every time she writes such wondering love stories.
